The Department of History at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position for one year—September 2024 through June 2025. The position involves teaching a two-term U.S. history survey and four upper-level courses, including a junior research seminar, over three terms (two courses during each ten-week term). The field of specialization is open, but this position is responsible for most of the U.S. history offerings and will need to include a variety of classes chosen or designed in consultation with the department. We are particularly interested in candidates who could teach courses in African American history. The position may also require advising senior theses. More information is available on the Departmental website.

Kalamazoo College has made a commitment to inclusive excellence. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches will be effective in attracting and retaining historically underrepresented students.
