Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion

The Religion Department at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor of Religion in the Americas to begin in September 2024. Ph.D. (or evidence of imminent completion) required, area of specialization is open. The successful candidate may demonstrate research expertise or teaching capabilities in: Latinx religion and religions of Latin America, race and religion, Catholics/Catholicism, gender and sexuality, material religion, religion and immigration, new religious movements, ethnographic methods, and may also demonstrate a creative and broad understanding of the Americas. We especially seek applicants with teaching competency in the critical methods and theory of religion. The successful applicant will teach within the College’s Shared Passages program of first year and sophomore seminars and senior capstone courses. The teaching load is six courses on a quarter system (2/2/2), with additional duties including directing senior theses.
