Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Department of Spanish Language and Literatures invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning late August 2025. A Ph.D. is required by June 2025. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience. The successful candidate will join a growing Spanish program and teach a full-time load of six courses per year ranging from introductory Spanish language to advanced cultural and literary studies in Spanish. We seek a teacher-scholar with expertise and experience in the field of Latin American Literary and Cultural Studies (Pre-1900). Additional interest or expertise in designing and/or teaching Spanish for Specific Purposes or other applied courses is welcome. Candidates are expected to have a high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, a promise of scholarly excellence, a commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches are effective in attracting and retaining students from historically underrepresented groups. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
