The Department of Biology at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 2025. A PhD (or evidence of imminent completion) is required; post doctoral experience is preferred. Salary competitive and consistent with level of experience. Candidates are expected to have high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, a commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both inside and outside the classroom. We seek a broadly trained neurobiologist. The successful hire will teach in both the core and advanced biology curriculum. Core responsibilities will include regular participation in a first-year biology course (familiarity with the 2011 AAAS Vision and Change report would be an asset) and an introductory Cell and Molecular Biology course with associated lab. In addition, our new colleague will teach at least one 300-level lecture/laboratory course in their area of expertise, and they will contribute to the college’s interdepartmental Neuroscience concentration. The biology department graduates about 50 majors each year, including many who pursue graduate-level work in the discipline.

Kalamazoo College is a highly selective nationally known liberal arts college offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into educational experiences in both domestic and international settings.
