HHMI Inclusive Excellence Grant Reports (2018-2025)

  • These reports were produced as part of Kalamazoo College’s Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence grant, awarded in 2018. The grant supported efforts to better understand and address barriers to equity in STEM education, with the broader goal of creating a more inclusive learning environment across the institution. The reports reflect years of collaborative work by the HHMI grant team, led by Grant Director Regina Stevens-Truss and the leadership of the CARE, InTRO, and RewARD teams and other campus partners.

DEI Bridge Plan – Office of the President (2022)

  • The DEI Bridge Plan served as a transitional roadmap, outlining institutional priorities and strategies to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, laying the foundation for more intensive, campus-wide strategic planning with multiple campus stakeholders in the future.

Kalamazoo College Climate Report with Attention to DEI Issues (2022)

  • Commissioned in response to the 2021 HEDS Campus Climate Survey, this report summarizes findings from focus groups, interviews, surveys, and a review of institutional communications. The goal was to provide additional context for the survey results and deepen the College’s understanding of campus climate and community experiences.

HEDS Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey (2021)

  • Campus climate survey results on diversity and equity, collected and analyzed by HEDS (Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium), with Kalamazoo College results compared to peer institutions.

Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee (2018-2020)

  • DIAC was a faculty and staff committee focused on advancing diversity and inclusion at Kalamazoo College. Through focus groups and other forms of data collection, the committee sought to understand the experiences of students and employees and use those findings to inform institutional priorities and improvements.

Diversity and Inclusion Focus Group Report (2013)

  • Led by the Office of Institutional Research (Anne Dueweke), this project included a series of student focus groups and a campus-wide survey conducted in 2013. As Kalamazoo College’s student body became increasingly diverse in race, ethnicity, and national origin, the project sought to better understand students’ experiences and identify opportunities to improve the campus experience for all students.
